What to expect when you start.

A first session is a real conversation. You'll meet your therapist on a secure video call from wherever you are. They will ask what brought you in, listen to your story, and start to help you make sense of what is happening for you. There is no test and no script.

Therapy across Colorado is delivered by a licensed Colorado clinician who takes time to listen, ask questions, and help you think more clearly about whatever you bring in. The first session is a starting point. Where the work goes from there is up to you.

What a session actually looks like.

A typical session runs 50 minutes. You'll join from a private space on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Your therapist will check in with how you're doing, ask what's on your mind, and help you think more clearly about whatever you brought in. Sometimes the work is talking through a hard week. Sometimes it's sitting with something you haven't said out loud before. Sometimes it's practicing a new skill or rehearsing a hard conversation.

Most clients meet weekly at first, then settle into a rhythm that fits their life. Some work through a specific concern in a few months. Others stay longer because therapy becomes a steady part of how they care for themselves. There's no required timeline. The pace is yours.

Questions from Colorado Clients

What happens in a first session?
Your therapist will introduce themselves, ask what brought you in, and listen. There's no test. You don't need to have a problem to name or a goal to set. The first session is about getting to know each other and starting to make sense of what you want from therapy.
Is your Colorado therapist actually licensed in Colorado?
Yes. Sessions are with a clinician holding an active LPC license issued by Colorado's Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Anyone can verify a clinician's Colorado license through the DORA public license lookup. The license carries the same standards and accountability as any in-person Colorado therapist holds.
How do you handle insurance billing?
Sessions are billed directly to your insurance, in-network, the same way an in-person visit would be. Your specific copay and deductible information is verified before your first session, so you know exactly what you'll owe out of pocket. Plans accepted in Colorado include BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, TRICARE, Cigna, and Optum.
When can you book your first appointment?
Openings are typically available within one to two weeks. The booking calendar displays real-time availability, and when you select a time, that slot is reserved immediately. No waiting for a confirmation email.
What if you relocate during treatment?
If your new home is Oklahoma, Texas, or Florida, your sessions continue without interruption. Your therapist is licensed in all four. If you move somewhere else, you'll receive a thoughtful referral to a clinician in your new area, along with any records that help your next provider continue the work.

Have a different question? Call (405) 370-4594 and we'll talk it through before you book.
